Tiliter and SAPP International join forces to bring AI retail technology to the world

A strategic partnership with AI vision company Tiliter: SAPP will manufacture Tiliter's AI scales and supply the hardware to retailers worldwide.

SAPP International has entered a strategic partnership with Tiliter, the AI computer vision company behind the AI scale used by major grocers. Together, the two businesses will bring AI-powered retail technology to more stores around the world.

What the partnership covers

‍

  • Manufacturing: SAPP will produce Tiliter's AI scales, scaling up production through our own manufacturing facilities.
  • Global hardware supply: SAPP will supply the hardware to retailers across Asia-Pacific, Europe, South America, Canada and the United States.
  • Software: Tiliter continues to provide the AI software that recognises products on the scale.
  • New products: The two teams will also develop new AI solutions aimed at making stores more efficient and improving the customer experience.

Why the AI scale matters

‍

Non-barcoded items such as fresh fruit and vegetables have always slowed checkouts down. Tiliter's AI scale recognises these items automatically, so shoppers and staff no longer have to search through lookup codes.

‍

The technology is already proven at scale. It has been rolled out at Woolworths in Australia and New Zealand, including more than 1,100 locations in Australia, where it supports e-commerce, AI price checking and Scan & Go. Tiliter's work with Netto in Germany also earned it the 2022 RETA award for Best AI & Robotics Application.

‍

Why SAPP

‍

SAPP brings nearly three decades of experience designing and manufacturing retail hardware, a team of more than 500 people, sales offices in Australia, Hong Kong, China, Europe and the US, and manufacturing in Dongguan, China. That means AI scales can be built, delivered, installed and maintained by one partner, wherever the retailer operates.

Tiliter's Co-CEO Christopher Sampson described the partnership as reflecting a shared goal of advancing retail technology. SAPP's Business Director Henry Wong noted that the AI scale has already performed well in fresh produce, and that the same technology has potential across many other categories and industries.
